Bidii Schools Farm Produces Record Vegetable Harvest

The Bidii Schools farm has yielded its largest harvest to date, with students growing cabbages, sukuma wiki, potatoes and a variety of other vegetables that supplement the school dining programme.
The school farm has once again demonstrated the value of practical, hands-on agricultural education. This term's harvest — which included rows of healthy sukuma wiki, cabbages, potatoes and mixed greens — is the school's largest to date.
Students from Standard IV upwards and Form 1 to 3 participate in farm activities as part of their timetable, learning about soil preparation, planting, irrigation and harvesting. The produce feeds directly into the school dining hall, providing fresh vegetables for the student community.
"The farm teaches our students responsibility, patience and the connection between hard work and reward," said Primary Head Teacher Mrs. Grace Temba. "And the food on their plates carries extra satisfaction when they know they grew it themselves."
